Rest In Peace, Tabbygail

UPDATE 10/18/2009:
We would like to thank everyone who has purred and prayed for our Tabbygail. We just returned from a sad journey to the vet -- Tabs went to the Rainbow Bridge tonight. She had been doing well with the tumor therapy but developed another serious problem that sometimes occurs when there has been pleural effusion. The lining of her lungs had become inflamed and stiffened up, causing her not to be able to expand her lungs to breathe. This is a very serious condition with a very poor prognosis. Her breathing became very labored today and we couldn't risk her getting critical during the night, so we made the very difficult decision to help her cross the Bridge now. We are heart broken, but she is now free of struggling. Thank you again to the CB for caring ...'Kaika's (and Tabbygail's) mom

UPDATE 10/1/2009:

A big thank you to CBers who have been purring for Tabbygail. Her vet visit this afternoon went well. She didn't have as much fluid in her lungs as she did in previous weeks, and the vet seems to think that maybe she is responding to the alternative treatment. She has seemed more herself this the past couple of days, even playing with a fur mousie! Thank you so much, everyone who is purring for our girl! Love, 'Kaika and his mom

My mom and I would really appreciate any blogosphere purrs for my big sister Tabbygail. Jeter put the word out in his diary and Catsters have been very kind.
Tabbygail has been diagnosed with a tumor, which the vet said is in a place that would make surgery very risky. So even if our humans could afford to send her to UC Davis for the surgery, she may not survive it. My mom, our vet and our acupuncturist/TCM practitioner worked out a treatment plan together: chest taps to relieve the fluid build-up and an alternative medicine formula of medicinal mushroom extracts which has been successful in shrinking tumors in studies done in Japan and other countries.
When my mom took Tabbygail to the vet about four weeks ago, the vet didn't think she would live through the weekend, but after the first chest tap, she felt better. She has had two more chest taps since then and has been on the medicine for 1 week. She seem to be having a good day so far. Tabby also is hyperthyroid, and is on meds for that, too.
So that's what is going on with our Tabbygail. She is such a sweet little brown tabby girl and she can use some healing energy, purrs and prayers. Since we don't have a blog, CBers can send their purrs to Tabbygail's Catster page or just send them out to the Universe ... Tabby will get them either way! Thanks so much, KC. Your friend, 'Kaika

Leave comments here since they don't have a blog.

Thank you, everycat and bean, for the continued purrs. I feel pretty good today and I ate on my own. I had a good sleep in the sun and took my meds.

I know with your purrs I will keep feeling better.
