Roscoe - a 2nd letter from Mom Cyndi

We are so happy to hear that Roscoe is improving. We will continue purring (Socks, Scylla & Charybdis) and praying (Alasandra) for him. Thank you so much for keeping us updated. ~Alasandra & The cats

Thank you all for you kind thoughts and prayers. Keep up the good work because they appear to be working. Roscoe seems to recovering from his symptoms and is doing much better today. The vet has been referring to his condition on Saturday night as a "collapse". He was weak, dehydrated, unable to walk and had a low body temperature.

Last night he ate for the first time and licked an ice cube. The vet says he might not be drinking because he doesn't feel thirsty with all of his IV fluids. He has gone to bathroom now a total of five times, so his kidney seems to be working for now.

I was a nervous wreck all night as we waited for his morning doctor's appointment. There was a misunderstanding as I understood he would have a Doppler test done. It turned out that the vet had said she would do more blood work, give him another round of IV fluids, and some more IV vitamins and schedule his Doppler appointment.

So where are we at? Roscoe is now eating small bites of soft cat food and is enjoying a cat treat now and again. He is able to walk (yesterday he would fall over after a few steps) He is still leaning to the right and is a bit off balance, but that has improved greatly since last night. The vet performed the same neuro test this morning that had Roscoe failed yesterday; this time he PASSED! The vet had been worried that there could be a brain tumor but is now more hopeful since he is starting to recover some of his balance. The bad news is that there is a tumor on his kidney that is blocking it from functioning and this has made his good kidney work too hard. That is now VERY swollen, but still working.

Tomorrow will have his Doppler test scheduled for 10am (Italy time) and we will know then just what we are dealing with.

I thank you all for your kindness, it means so much to us all us. I promise to write you back personally when things settle down here.

Sending a big hug from Italy,
Cyndi
